Student Visas

International students applying new student visa or renewing their student visa to continue their current course of study must obtain a new electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE) from the school. For more information about visa process and the relevant forms and documents, please contact Work Study.

Onshore Student Visa renewals
When you first accept an offer for a course from the school as an international student you will be issued with an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE) .

If you are an international student renewing your student visa in order to continue your current course of study, you must obtain a new electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE).

In addition to those requirements you must also:
Be enrolled in a full-time study load – 100 credits per semester. International students on a student visa must maintain full-time enrolment.

Provide evidence of Overseas Student Health cover (OSHC) for the length of your visa directly to DIAC. You will have to arrange payment directly with your OSHC provide to extend your current cover.

If required (this is not mandatory for every extension) provide evidence of a medical check-up within the last 12 months (as medical and x-ray results are only valid for 12 months).

At the time you contact or visit Work Study to apply for your eCoE our staff will go through a checklist with you and tell you about the process. Most importantly, once you have your eCoE you must apply to DIAC for your visa.

Students in Perth are encouraged to apply for their visa extension online at the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) website. You will need your eCoE and credit card to complete your application online.

Students applying in person are advised to make an appointment with DIAC before going to their office. DIAC Office Telephone: 131881 for appointment bookings Location: Level 3 Wellington Central 836 Wellington St, West Perth, 6005.

Offshore student visa application
Students applying from outside Australia must contact their nearest Australian High Commission/Embassy to determine what documentation is required and how to submit their student visa application. For further information, please visit the DIAC website.

Fees and charges associated with student visa applications are available from the DIAC website.

Visa Medical Check-up

Most new students will be required to undertake a medical check-up as part of the student visa application process. If applying for a student visa online, medicals are to be undertaken after the student visa application has commenced. Continuing students renewing their student visa may also be required to undertake a medical check-up if they have not had one within the last 12 months (as medical and x-ray results are only valid for 12 months). For more information on medical check-ups, please visit the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) website or telephone Health for Industry (formerly HSA) on 1300 361 046. Work Study can arrange medical check-up for our clients. Please contact us for more information..

Working in Australia

Students who wish to work in Australia do not need a work visa. The student visa allows you to work up to 20 hours a week during semester and unlimited hours during semester breaks. For further information, visit the Department of Immigration and Citizenship website.

Students Under 18 Years of Age

If you are under 18 years of age you will already have nominated a guardian who has legal responsibility for your welfare in Australia until you turn 18. You are required to submit a form to the school nominating your guardian prior to accepting your offer.

Whilst you are under the age of 18 you and your guardian are required to meet with a student advisor from the school as least once every semester. Normally the advisor will contact you both and arrange the meeting at a time that is convenient.

The meetings are completely confidential and it is a condition of guardianship that your guardian accompanies you to the meeting.

If you have any questions about guardianship, please contact Work Study.
