TEACHER DEVELOPMENT COURSE

 

T.E.S.O.L. TEACHING ENGLISH TO SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES  

This course is ideal for students wishing to return to their own country to seek employment and a teacher or teaching assistant. The program consists of an 8 week Teacher Training Course and an optional 1 week Work Experience Program.

Available to Student, Working Holiday and Tourist Visa holders!

This course can help you:

» improve your own language skills,

» further your teaching qualifications,

» gain work experience in an English-speaking Kindergarten or Primary school,

» gain employment in your home country,

 

This course has 4 modules:

» Module 1: Introduction to Teaching Skills and Methodology.

                   (Theory - Learn how to teach)

                   - Classroom instruction
                   - Teaching reading skills
                   - Effective communication (pronunciation skills)
                   - Error correction (develop grammar skills)
                   - Introduction to developing teaching resources
                   - Lesson planning and presentation

 

» Module 2: Application of Teaching Skills and Methodology.

                   (Application - Develop teaching skills)

                   - Teaching Reading and Pronunciation
                   - Teaching Grammar and Vocabulary
                   - Classroom techniques/ management
                   - Design and develop teaching resources/ materials
                   - Plan and use assessment tools and methods

 

» Module 3: Teacher Observation, Practice and Assessment.

                   (Practicum - Practice teaching skills)

                   Use the teaching materials you have prepared

                   during your course to present lessons for your

                   Teaching Practice and Observation.
                   Assessment units:
                   - Present a Reading lesson to class
                   - Present a Grammar and Vocabulary lesson

                   - Present a Speaking and Pronunciation lesson
 

On successful completion of the 8 week course, students will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement in TESOL.

 

» Module 4: Work Experience Program.

                   (Work Experience - Use teaching skills)

                   Use teaching skills gained from course to work at

                   an English-speaking Kindergarten or Primary

                   School.

 

On successful completion of the 1 week work experience, students will be awarded a Certificate of Competency.
